summer!

so camp has caused my life to be very unpredictable-which includes blogging! this summer i've learned how to: pack and move things with very little notice, enjoy the amazingness of cold showers in hot&humid bathrooms, hold conversations with young children, and enjoy meal time more than any other time of the day. i also learned that acting like a kid in the water is much more acceptable than doing the same things out of the water! this is another counselor and i at the beach-i knew her this summer as bumble-we met the first day of training when we were assigned to stay in the same cabin. this was our first picture together-during my last week working!
during my days off i went downtown to the house i lived in last summer. one saturday we had the typical summer day pasttime-a slip'n'slide! here's a picture from that particular event! there were so many kids there that i didn't know and it was so exciting to see how the Lord is working in that broken area.

another activity that i would take part in was playing disc golf-actually now that i think about it im pretty sure this was the only time i actually got to go play but it was fun, even if we only got to play half a round because we took extra long even though im not sure why! (in the picture its janna, melanie, devin, me, bt, and will)

this next picture we all were SO EXCITED to take! everyone in this picture has lived in the house i lived in last summer (minus a few who weren't at this wedding) and soon more will be moving in that we can add to our family pictures! ok lets see if i can get everybody! wyatt, john, jorge, laura, melanie, me, tyler, janna, jami, devin, clifton, megan, bt, sarah, and will. the missing ones would be shelli, ben, and patrick i think!

hard knock life

my cabin! those cars aren't there however so it doesn't look like a parking lot! the girls village has cabins named after different fish-so mine is catfish! the bathhouse is directly behind my cabin about 50 yards away or so and the water is in front-about well i dont know how far but close enough to see it!
sunset on the lake!
this is dezzy. the camp dog. however, we all know better that she is mostly wolf-no matter what our boss tells us! during training we saw her eating a dead bird, dragging/playing with a duck that i'm pretty sure she killed, and chasing a baby deer then facing off with its mother (for that last experience the three of us in the picture below were the only ones around and were standing about 15 feet from where they were circling each other!) she's a really sweet dog and loves to lick humans but EW who would want her to lick them after knowing what she does with that mouth!?
this is me with the two other girl resident counselors-Sam (Flitter) is on the left and Alaina (Ginger) is on the right. we'll each have a cabin of our own that up to 7 girls will stay in with us each week! we've been getting along great so far so i hope that that continues!
this is alaina and i after creating the fire pit that we are squatting in! we had to lug these rocks from the trail to this campsite that will become where the girls camp out. this summer will be the first time it is used as a campsite so we'll be fixing it up quite a bit!

this week we'll have a church group from somewhere in ga come to be our first guineapigs at resident camp! this past week the three girls went out to fort gordon and the main branch of the ymca to advertise for our resident camp so that kids will come and we'll have a job! apparently the numbers of registered kids is low so we aren't sure if it will happen consistently this summer-so if you know a kid between 7-12 get them to sign up! until next time...adios!

camp training

so i just wanted to add a few pictures from the beach before going into the ruckus of camp training! dad and the boys playing golf
ma and i on a golf car ride
so the day i got back from the beach i had to go straight out to Camp Lakeside for training. i had NO IDEA what to expect. but i was so glad and comforted that there were two people that i knew there as well. its all a big blur so i dont remember all of it but there are about 25 counselors and program specialists there total so of course i've had much trouble remembering names-too bad that we all get nicknames and so it was pointless to learn their real ones! my name is CC by the way-short for Cheshire Cat (because i smile all the time). so we learned archery and canoeing and tons of games and songs this week! i am also certified in CPR and first aid through the red cross:)
thats me, sam (flitter), and clifton (big red) after getting first aid certified! im surprised my brain still has filling capacity after learning all these songs, prayers, games, and ways to save lives on top of all that stuff gcsu taught me! i have a free weekend before going back to learn more about being a resident counselor-sam (from that picture above) is one of the resident counselors with me so we'll get to spend lots of time together:) i'll update more later on!

isaiah 40

this past week i was at the beach with my family and read five books (real hectic week eh?) in one of these books the author referenced isaiah 40:28, so i went and looked it up-amazing! it reminded me once again of just how awesome our God is! after reading thru it and such i decided to make this chapter my theme for this summer as a camp counselor at the YMCA. so you'll definitely learn about how that is later on!
so at the beach we saw some people practicing for a wedding on the beach and so what did we do? of course go and crash the wedding! when we got there we realized just how obvious it would be that we crashed-there were only 20 chairs. so we decided to stand off to the side and look stalkerish. anyway. here's some pictures from that extravaganza!

'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
and to take him at his word;
just to rest upon his promise,
and to know, "Thus saith the Lord."

Refrain:
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust him!
How I've proved him o'er and o'er!
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust him more!

O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
just to trust his cleansing blood;
and in simple faith to plunge me
neath the healing, cleansing flood!
(Refrain)

Yes, 'tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
just from sin and self to cease;
just from Jesus simply taking
life and rest, and joy and peace.
(Refrain)

I'm so glad I learned to trust thee,
precious Jesus, Savior, friend;
and I know that thou art with me,
wilt be with me to the end.
(Refrain)
